student accessing online subjects

AMSI Online: Honours and Masters (formerly the AMSI ACE Network) is a national collaboration that expands access to advanced mathematical sciences education across Australia.

Students can enrol in honours and masters subjects taught by leading lecturers at AMSI Member Universities, including subjects that may not otherwise be available at their home institution. Delivered online with class recordings provided for flexibility, subjects may be taken for credit with home university permission.

Since its launch in 2006, the program has enabled thousands of students to broaden their expertise, access world-class teaching and prepare for research and industry careers.

Who can participate?

  • Honours and masters students
  • PhD candidates and early career-researchers
  • Industry professionals looking to upskill
  • Third-year undergraduates are welcome to enrol

Subject Enrolment Fees

All fees are in AUD, inclusive of GST and applicable per subject.

FEE CATEGORY AMOUNT
AMSI Member Student FREE
AMSI Member $750.00
Non-AMSI Member Student $1000.00
Non-AMSI Member $1500.00

Note: Students taking a subject for credit will be liable for applicable tuition fees at their home university, in addition to the above AMSI Online enrolment fee.

Who can access AMSI Member rates?

  • Staff currently employed at AMSI Member institutions
  • Students currently enrolled at AMSI Member institutions
  • Retirees who have a current AustMS membership

There is no individual membership required. View a full list of AMSI Member institutions.

Students

  • Access specialist subjects not offered at your home university
  • Learn from expert lectures across Australia
  • Join a motivated national cohort of peers
  • Takes subjects for credit (with home university permission) or for interest

Enrolment process

  1. Choose your subject – review the subject guides and complete the pre-enrolment quizzes to access your readiness and confirm you have the required foundational knowledge.
  2. Seek home university approval if taking a subject for credit – discuss with your Honours/Masters/Program Coordinator and upload their email approval to your enrolment.
  3. Enrol with AMSI Online

Lecturers

  • Teach motivated students and ECRs across Australia
  • Showcase your hybrid teaching and research expertise nationally
  • Strengthen postgraduate training in the mathematical sciences
  • Receive a $2000 Lecturer Payment (conditional on post-census enrolments)

How it works

  • Offer your existing subject to external students – seek School/Faculty approval to open your subject to AMSI Online students
  • Provide a subject guide, pre-enrolment quiz and LMS/online class access
  • AMSI manages enrolments and student communications
  • Read the Teach with AMSI Online Lecturers Guide for workload implications and set up requirements
  • Submit your subject proposal

Convenors

Get your department and students involved in AMSI Online today!

+ Encourage lecturers to open their honours and masters subjects to AMSI Online students
+ Promote AMSI Online subjects to your students and encourage them to enrol
+ Advise students of your university’s process for receiving credit (e.g. enrolling in a shell subject or cross-institutional enrolment)
+ Refer to the subject guides to help determine which subjects your students can sit for credit
